'I do it to keep the crazy at bay!' For me, that why I do photography. It has evolved into more than just a hobby—it's a vital means of reconnecting with nature. Stepping into the great outdoors, I find myself immersed in every detail, from the sweeping vistas above to the intricate details below. Each moment holds a story waiting to be captured through my lens. It helps me get and keep my head clear so I can be a better wife, friends, and dog mom!
Denise, originally from Montana, ventured to Idaho for a Christmas visit years ago and found herself captivated by its charm. Since then, Idaho has been her beloved home for most of her adult life. For the past two decades, she has resided in central Idaho, currently nestled in the picturesque Wood River Valley near the renowned Sun Valley. Denise shares her home in Bellevue with her husband Lowell, along with their cherished companions, Harper the dog and Beatrice the cat. Together, Denise and Lowell enjoy exploring new destinations, often organizing their travels around captivating photo opportunities.
Denise is fortunate to reside near two designated Dark Sky locations: the Central Idaho Dark Sky Reserve and the Craters of the Moon Dark Sky Monument. These sites hold special significance for Denise, as they fuel her profound passion for Milky Way photography. Several years ago, Denise embarked on her journey into Milky Way photography alongside friends, and it has since evolved into a deeply cherished pursuit. Her primary focus lies in capturing captivating images from these designated Dark Sky areas, making them essential destinations on her photography itinerary
Denise's initial passion for photography ignited during her high school years, back when film cameras reigned supreme. Denise rediscovered her passion for photography in her late twenties while residing in Arizona. From there, she embarked on a journey of discovery into the realm of digital photography. However, it wasn't until her return to Twin Falls, Idaho, that her photographic education truly blossomed. Joining the Magic Valley Camera Club proved instrumental in her rapid growth as a photographer.
During her tenure with the camera club, Denise actively engaged in various activities, including participating in print competitions, delivering and attending talks on photography topics, and organizing club outings. Through these experiences, she not only expanded her technical skills but also forged enduring friendships within the photography community. Denise regularly keeps in touch with her fellow club members, often joining them in workshops and collaborative projects
Denise's heart truly belongs to nature photography. Denise is relentless in her pursuit of capturing the natural beauty of each place through her lens.
I've always felt a deep connection to creativity and leadership—it's just part of who I am. My creativity knows no bounds, manifesting in various forms such as artistic expression, digital design, culinary arts, and education. These are my sources of joy, my truest passions. Without them, life feels incomplete. Even in my professional endeavors, I make it a point to infuse these elements to maintain balance and fulfillment.
